This session will discuss the next evolution in the field of Organization Development -- the need to become more strategic. Organization Development was founded on values-driven issues concerned with a more humanistic workplace. Issues of inclusion, teamwork, and sensitivity to others were our primary focus. Armed with interventions like the T-Group and Sensitivity Training, yesterday's OD practitioners were not exposed to the constant changing workplace and global technologies facing 21st century organizations.
This workshop will discuss how OD needs to evolve to meet the demands of today's fast paced environment. Dr. Anderson will show how the history and founding values of OD have prepared us for this challenge, but our evolution is not complete. Today's practitioners must accept the torch passed on by our founders, to make our field more robust, relevant, and value-added to the organizations we serve. Through his research and experience, Dr. Anderson will help participants understand what it means to be a strategic OD partner. Further, he will illustrate how this can be accomplished in your organization to provide real value and avoid the Œtree hugging' stigma so often associated with what we do.
