How often have you been watching the evening news and seen the same scenario play out amid flashing lights, crime scene tape, and aircraft parts scattered across a field. It's an aircraft accident and a reporter is asking an investigator what the cause of the accident was. The investigator doesn't really answer the question but instead tells the reporter the procedure that will be followed:

"We'll be bringing together experts in the area of flight safety, pilot training, and aircraft
maintenance as well as technical experts in the many systems that make up the aircraft. We
expect the investigation will take at least a month and it will be that long before have identified
    the cause."

What really goes on in an investigation and how can that information help you diagnose and solve problems of organizations you work with?

Today we will immerse you in a simulation of an aircraft accident as a member of an investigation team. You will learn about the investigation process and the roles you will play as a member of an investigation team. The exercise is based on an actual aircraft accident on which Dr. Stone served as an investigator.  After a description of the events leading up to takeoff, you will "step into the cockpit" of the aircraft and edpereince the flight from engine start to the point of impact.

It will be your job to work with the others in the grop to follow procedures in determining the caise or causes of the crash. You will be able to ask questions to gain information and, as you work toward your solutions, we will relate the accident investigation proccess to similar processes you use with your clients.
